Vacation in Iceland: FORGET Warm Sandy Beaches
Fire, ice and the land of paradoxes
If you love sandy beaches and sun tanning; probably you should stop reading right there. Nonetheless, if you like defying rules, then keep reading and you might change your preferences after reading this. You should definitely consider taking your next vacation in Iceland. Iceland is a land of ice and fire, a very paradoxical combination. Nonetheless, it is true. The bottom line is that Iceland is not normally a relaxation destination (although it can be, ya’ know, the Blue Lagoon and all that). You will be on a holiday all right, but you will most likely be on your feet all day. The activities are endless; you only need to choose what you love most.
Black sand beaches and volcanoes
Iceland has untamed wilderness and a serene beauty that you can only find in the volcanic landscape, the hot springs and the black sand beaches (yes black, not white). While you contemplate on whether you really want to take a vacation in Iceland or not, let me tell you what you can in this wonderful country. Forget about the sandy beaches; surprise yourself by taking an adventure in Reykjavík.
How about a Whale Watching Adventure?
This sounds interesting, and indeed, it is interesting. You probably did not know that Reykjavík enjoys the privilege of twenty-four-hour daylight in June because it has latitude of 64 degrees. Therefore, if you take a vacation in Iceland, you have a chance to partake in the late night activities without feeling like a werewolf. You can enjoy the whale-watching ride in the Faxaflói Bay, if you are not lucky, you will at least see the dolphins and the porpoises.
Snorkel without freezing your butt off
When you decide to vacation in Iceland, you should come prepared. Iceland is cold; and the water is colder. Nevertheless, once you start having fun, you will not remember how cold it is. When snorkelling, you can put on the wet body suit, which is flexible but will let in water, or you can opt for the dry suit, which is a suit that keeps your body completely dry. Once you overcome the cold sensation, you will find your reward in the clear water. The scene is simply breath taking. You will feel like you are floating in the canyons.
Spend Your Vacation in the Warm Swimming Pools
As mentioned earlier, Iceland is a land of ice and fire. You will encounter the ice experience when you go snorkelling. When you want to experience the fire while in vacation in Iceland, take a dip at the Nauthólsvík Geothermal Beach or any of the outdoor public pools around the country. The hot springs supply the city with hot water; even the swimming pools are so comfortable because the source of all the water in the city comes from the geothermally heated water. Admission is pretty cheap!
Soaking in the Hot Pots
Most swimming pools in the city have a ‘hot pot’ where you can soak and enjoy the hot water from the geothermal springs. There is no hurry because you can be as early as you want and late as you want. There is abundance of hot water and steam coming from the volcanic geology. That is why you should take a vacation in Iceland.http://vacation.is/forget-white-sandy-beaches-take-vacation-iceland/http://vacation.is/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/16149516353_fce73b95d5_k-1024x684.jpghttp://vacation.is/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/16149516353_fce73b95d5_k-150x150.jpgVacation in Icelandadventure, black sand beach, canyon, cold, floating,Geothermal, hot tubs, iceberg,Iceland vacation, midnight sun,Myvatn, public pools,Silfra, snorkelling, swimming pools, volcanic, volcanoes,Whale watching,ÞingvellirFire, ice and the land of paradoxes If you love sandy beaches and sun tanning; probably you should stop reading right there.
